West Somerville Last Day Today
Today is the last day for this session of Web Club. Let's share what we've done. What did you learn? What would you like to know more about?
I will be teaching Web Club next semester. We will continue learning about HTML and designing website pages. We'll also spend time creating more original art and writing, exploring interactive games and art sites, and using computers to learn new things and share ideas.
It's been a lot of fun working with all of you this semester. I hope to see some of you again in January!

Group Website - WSNS
Today we should all be contributing to the group website. We will bring together the pictures we took of some of the clubs and each of you can help identify and write captions for the pictures.
Make sure you all show me your own websites before the end of today. We will link them from our group pages. Export your site from Publisher as HTML (file > save as website) so it can be added to the final project. Please include a short paragraph about the clubs you took and what you learned.

Making a Group Website - WSNS
Today (Friday), we begin working on our group website. We decided to make a site celebrating the 21st Century Clubs. Last week you signed up for different "development teams."
This week's teams:
Web Designers:
Max and Adam
Work together. Decide who will do what.
Publisher will only open one document at a time.
- Using Publisher, create a template for the 21st Century Clubs site.
- Choose a blank page.
- Decide how wide you want the page to be: File > Page Setup
- Add Navigation and other page elements: Insert > Design Gallery Objects. We will need a home page, story pages (for text about the different clubs) and gallery pages (for pictures).
Photographers:
Christine and Amanda
- Take pictures of today's clubs (Ask Rosanna for the camera)
- If you have taken pictures this week, copy them to the Save Work Here > Somerville 21 Web Club > WSNS > Final Project folder
(If you cannot do this without me, don't worry, we can do it together next week).
Logo and Header Designers:
Brian, Joey and Joey
Actually, everyone else in the club should practice making headlines and graphics today (for the club site, or their own pages if you haven't tried this yet).
Here is a list of all of the clubs at WSNS.
- Use Word Art (look for the WA icon), which is built into Publisher
- CoolText Logo Generator
- 3dText Maker
- Save your logos in the Final Project folder, or your own folder.
- Look in the Clip Art folder (in Publisher) to find art to use You can also go to clip art sites (follow links from our links page). Do not use images from a Google search for this.
Have fun, be good, and I will see you next week.

West Somerville Web Club: Showing Off Your Stuff!
Today we will take a few moments to show each other how our sites are coming along. By now, you should be working with Publisher.
If you are using the freewebs.com WebEditor and hosting your site there, you can still upload original art you have created, or whole pages you create in Publisher and export as HTML. Please discuss using this site with me before the end of today. You will need to bring in a short note from your parents if you wish to continue using this site in class. Bring it the next time we meet.
Special Note to Students Joining This Club Late: You should spend time reviewing the club pages and exploring some of the links and projects there. I would also like to go over some basic HTML with you, so you have a better understanding of how web pages are made.
Today:
3:00-4:00 Work on Pages
4:00-4:30 Present your sites in progress
